Family Engagement
Family Engagement Sessions
Throughout the school year we hold numerous sessions where parents and carers are invited into school to work alongside their child. These range from stand alone family engagement sessions to families coming into the classroom to support their child’s learning. These sessions are well attended and we enjoy sharing our learning with our wonderful families. Below are a number of examples of family engagement sessions that have taken place recently.
Foundation Stay and Play

KS1 Count me in Session
Parent and carers in key stage one were invited into school for another of our ‘Count me in’ maths sessions. During the session, parents and carers developed their strategies for numeracy. We looked at strategies we use for addition and subtraction across key stage one and the concrete objects we use to support the learning.
Key Stage 1 had a fantastic time at the Count Me In Castle Making Workshop! We applied many skills that we have been learning and practising in DT. Additionally, the children created many different castle features which we have been learning all about in history. It was fabulous to see the children’s creativity in full swing and how their visions came to life.
During the castle making, there were different maths tasks to complete. For example, the children were tasked with creating a repeating pattern on their castle. They also were tasked with creating a Coat of Arms that had a line of symmetry.
